Client: The Grande, Aberdeen
Adjacent to the harbour, opposite Aberdeen’s Union Square shopping centre and train station the Grande is a bespoke 11,150 sqm, eight-storey office development. Located on the site of the former Aberdeen Seafood Park, operations were challenging as they were compounded by the building footprint having direct contact with public circulation routes.
The Grade ‘A’ accommodation for a workforce of up to 800 staff was constructed for EnQuest – the largest independent UK oil producer in the North Sea. BHC Ltd. erected the new headquarters with braced steel stair cores in collaboration with Sir Robert McAlpine. We programmed our works to first splice then deck in concrete due to the structural heights involved from the upper slab to plant roof levels. This allowed access for other contractors trades assisting with the critical path programming.
BHC Ltd. supplied and erected hot rolled steelwork with cold-formed purlins for the construction of The Grande as well the supply and installation of metal decking and all the necessary safety netting and edge protection. BHC Ltd. erected the steelwork and installed the metal decking using a combination of mobile cranes and self-erecting towers.
