After completing the previous phases of the Glasgow Fort Retail Park Development, BHC was awarded Phase 3 which included a multi-screen Vue Cinema incorporating five ground floor restaurants.
BHC was awarded the project by main contractor Miller Construction and was responsible for the supply, fabrication, delivery, site welding, bolting and erection of the structural steelwork. The 2-storey with pitched roof steel framed building was constructed using 543 tonnes of hot-rolled steelwork and 39 tonnes of cold rolled steelwork. Before erecting, all steelwork was shot blast and primed with Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer/Buildcoat to a dry film thickness of 75 microns.
In addition to erecting the structural steelwork, BHC was responsible for installing over 3,000 sqm of metal decking and the supply and installation of precast concrete stairs.
All steelwork and metal decking was completed and handed over within a 12-week time frame. BHC utilised their in-house steel erecting and metal decking squads. While onsite BHC used their 35-tonne mobile crane, 50-tonne mobile crane and 65 ft Access Platforms.
