BHC was awarded the structural steelwork contract by Principal Contractor Robertson Construction for the erection of a seven-storey mixed-use development situated within the heart of the £1 Billion re-generation of the Dundee Waterfront.
Plot 6 is located in the south-western area of the central waterfront, overlooking RSS Discovery and the new V&A Museum of Design. BHC was responsible for the supply, fabrication and erection of over 1,100 pieces of hot-rolled steelwork to form the development, which will consist of 6,652m2 of Grade A office space, retail and restaurant units.
During the tender process, BHC carried out a Value Engineering exercise, highlighting a potential saving by replacing Westok cellular beams with a standard open section (with factory-formed openings) resulting in a significant saving.
Additionally, BHC supplied and installed 7,200m2 of metal decking including edge trim, shear studs and the supply and installation of edge protection to all areas.
Throughout the contract, BHC utilised our own Mobile Cranes and access platforms.
