LCFCBHC Are On-Site at the New Leicester City Training Centre.  

 McLaren Construction have appointed BHC to supply, fabricate and erect over 1,640 tonnes of structural steelwork and 5,500mmetal decking for the new Leicester City Training Centre.

BHC also secured the concrete package consisting of 995mof concrete on top of the upper floor slabs, over a surface area of 6,807m with 84 tonnes of reinforcement.

The new £120 million state-of-the-art training centre features an impressive, full-sized in-door training pitch that blends seamlessly into the landscape. The main structure will be surrounded by 11 full-size pitches and an indoor facility building which includes; 35 bedrooms, a rehabilitation facility, a hydrotherapy pool and catering area for Leicester City’s Academy and First team.

The project has been designed to support biodiversity within the area; 17 new ponds will be created to attract wildlife whilst managing surface water drainage. Additionally, over 38,000 new trees will be planted within the local surrounding area as well as 4.4 hectares of planting and landscaping and 14.6 hectares of wildflower grassland.

The training centre is set to be one of the most advanced in Europe and will open mid-2020.

Soho Place - July 19

BHC are thrilled to be working with Laing O’Rourke as the Steelwork Sub Contractor on a large scale regeneration project on Oxford Street, London.

Soho Place, formerly known as 1 Oxford Street, is a mixed-use development in London. Two buildings form the scheme which consists of 209,000 sq ft of office space, 36,000 sq ft of retail space and 40,000 sq ft theatre.

No 1. Soho Place combines the traditional retail development of Oxford Street with a revitalised transport interchange on Charing Cross Road. The building has two basement levels, ground level, nine upper floors and a tenth-floor roof terrace offering stunning panoramic views across the city of London.

No 2. Soho Place is a unique nine-storey theatre and office development. The development will be the West Ends first new-build theatre in over 50 years. The three floors of office above the theatre achieve over 3.5m clear floor to ceiling heights and 16m column-free spans offering 270-degree views of the city.

The contract involves the supply, fabrication and erection of 2,587 tonnes of structural steelwork and the installation of 7,492mof metal decking.

BHC are delighted to announce our involvement in the construction of Buchanan Wharf Buildings One and Two.

As the structural steelwork contractor for McLaughlin & Harvey, BHC will be providing over 4,000 tonnes of structural steelwork across two buildings.

In addition, BHC will be installing 31,673mof metal decking topped with 4,320mof concrete reinforced with 309 tonnes of reinforcement.

Buchanan Wharf is a city centre regeneration project situated on the banks of the River Clyde. The total development includes three buildings totalling over 470,000 square feet of Grade A Office Space, Residential Accommodation and a mix of local amenities including cafes, a creche and landscaped public spaces.

Buchanan Wharf is the last remaining riverfront site within the City of Glasgow and will blend modern living with dynamic workplaces.

BHC Delighted to Announce Involvement in 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow

BHC are thrilled to announce our involvement in 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow.

Following on from BHC’s previous success on Phase 1 of Bothwell Exchange, we are delighted to announce our appointment as the Structural Steelwork Contractor for Phase 2 of the development.

177 Bothwell Street is a Grade A Office development within the heart of Glasgow’s Financial District for which BHC will be fabricating, supplying and erecting almost 4,000 tonnes of steelwork and installing over 30,000 mof metal decking.

In addition, BHC will also be laying the concrete upper floor slabs covering 30,908 mwith 4,636 mof concrete reinforced with 557 tonnes of reinforcement.

When complete, the office block will become Scotland’s first development accredited with a Platinum WiredScore Certificate. Additionally, the development boasts Scotland’s first office rooftop running track, and an extensive external roof terrace with panoramic views across the city and multiple charging points for electrical vehicles.

Approximately 40% of the building has already been successfully pre-let to Clydesdale Bank.

BHC confirmed as Structural Steel Contractor for £1 billion redevelopment of Edinburgh St James

BHC have been appointed by Laing O’Rourke as the Structural Steelwork Contractor for extensive redevelopment of the Edinburgh St James Centre.

BHC are delighted to announce our involvement in the major redevelopment of the Edinburgh St James Centre. BHC will be responsible for the supply, fabrication and erection of approximately 15,000 tonnes of structural steelwork over a period of two years.

The redevelopment of the Edinburgh St James Centre is one of the largest investments for Scotland. The 1.7 million sq ft development will see the former 1970’s shopping centre replaced with a 850,000 sq ft of retail space, anchored by John Lewis, a multi-screen cinema, the luxurious W Hotel comprising of over 200 rooms and 150 private residential apartments. The development will become the heart of the city, providing excellent connections to the existing retails areas of Princes Street, Multrees Walk and George Street.

Throughout the duration of the project BHC will employ approximately 20 apprentices.

Distinctive Curved Form at NHS Orkney

NHS Orkney Hospital & Health Care, Kirkwall

Progress continues onsite at the new NHS Orkney Hospital & Health Care facilities in Kirkwall.

The structural steelwork is now well underway on the Isle of Orkney. The hospital features a distinctive curved form providing both shelter from the sometimes extreme environment of Orkney as well as highly functional clinical accommodation.

The building is based on a two-storey, form, with low-level pitched rood and orientated on the site to provide minimum impact to its domestic neighbours. The new purpose built hospital will include Accident & Emergency, surgical theatres, day surgery and cancer & palliative care etc.



BHC Erect 38.5m Trusses at Lydd Airport

Search & Rescue Hanger begins to take shape.

From fabrication to erection. The 38.5 m trusses BHC Ltd. fabricated earlier in the summer have now been erected on site at the new Search & Rescue hanger at Lydd Airport.

The hanger is the final new-build base constructed for the UK SAR Helicopter service operated by Bristows Helicopters on behalf of HM Coastguard.

When complete the hanger will be used to house 2 state-of-the-art SAR Helicopters.

Previously, BHC ltd. have fabricated and erected the structural steel for five other UK SAR bases across the United Kingdom.

Fabricating 38m Trusses

In the BHC Ltd. workshop this week our apprentices and tradesmen are fabricating 38.5 metre trusses for a Search & Rescue hanger based at Lydd Airport.

The hanger at Lydd Airport will be the final new-build base constructed for the UK SAR helicopter service which is operated by Bristows Helicopters on belhalf of HM Coastguard.

The new hangar will house 2 state-of-the-art search and rescue helicopters that will operate a lifesaving service around the clock.

BHC Ltd. have previously worked on five other UK SAR bases across the country.

Earlier this week, BHC Ltd. made the most of the beautiful weather and captured some excellent scenes of  our progress on the new Isle of Arran Distillery, Lagg.

As you can see from the video, progress on the first three bonded warehouses is well underway.

BHC Ltd. are the principal contractor for Phase One of the new Isle of Arran Distillery. The distillery is located in the small village of Lagg, on the southern coast of Arran.

Phase One of the contract will see the road infrastructure being put into place and the construction of the first three bonded warehouses. Each warehouse is approximately 1,000 m2.

The bonded warehouses are being built on the lowest part of the site, overlooking Cleat’s Shore.
