BHC were awarded the project to carry out the construction ofa circa 49,00m2 extension and 9,500m2 external concrete yard area to an existing live food processing facility at Brown Brothers, Kirkconnel.
Works involved the construction of a new steel frame, composite cladding panels to both roof and walls, in conjunction with low level precast retaining walls to the perimeter of the building. A complex internal ground floor slab pour to suit varying falls and cross falls was successfully carried out to ensure the client’s strict drainage scheme was achieved.
A total of 6 nr dock levellers and associated roller shutters and canopies were installed to different elevations of the build to ensure the client’s logistical requirements were met.
The existing food processing facility has remained operational throughout the duration of the works, with no detrimental impact on production levels.
