BHC Ltd were appointed as the Structural Steelwork Contractors of an energy-from-waste unit in Allerton as part of a multi-process waste centre servicing North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council. Construction of Allerton Waste Recovery Park commenced in February 2015 and was then fully operational by 2018.
The structure of the MT Building comprises of a single storey multi curved steel roof supported on steel columns on a typical 11.4 m x 25.1m grid. The Stability of the MT building is provided by horizontal steel bracing at roof level which transfers loads to vertical steel bracing positioned along the elevations.
The reception hall is a single storey steel framed structure having steel rafters at approximately 5m centres spanning approximately 33 m.
BHC supplied and erected hot rolled steelwork and cold formed purlins for the project. The steelwork was erected using BHC’s in-house steel erecting squad.
