Following on from the previous success on Phase 1 of Bothwell exchange, BHC were appointed by HFD Group as the structural steelwork contractor for Phase 2 of the development.
177 Bothwell Street is a Grade A office development within the heart of Glasgow’s financial district. The building’s superstructure spans 315,000 ft2 across 14 storeys and comprises of a steel frame with concrete flooring, cast on metal deck. The core of the building consists of reinforced concrete.
BHC was responsible for the supply, fabrication and erection of almost 4,000 tonnes of structural steelwork and installed 30,000m2 of metal decking. In addition to this, BHC were also responsible for laying the concrete upper floor slabs covering 30,908m2 with 4,636m3 of concrete reinforced with 577 tonnes of rebar. The office accommodation will feature long, open span spaces created using a 15.7m x 6/7.5 grid pattern.
Upon completion, this office black has become Scotland’s first development with a Platinum WiredScore Certificate. The office block also boasts Scotland’s first office rooftop terrace with panoramic views across Glasgow’s city and multiple charging points for electric vehicles.
At the time of completion, this building had already been pre-let to tenants such as Virgin Money, BNP, Paribas, AECOM, CBRE and Transport Scotland.
