We are currently seeking an experienced Tekla Steel Framing Detailer to join our busy Technical Office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate drawings, 3D models, and manufacturing information to support factory production and site installation teams. You will work independently on detailing projects from concept through to manufacture and erection, while liaising with both internal departments and external project stakeholders.

Full training will be provided on BHC’s internal systems and procedures; however, applicants should possess relevant industry experience and be capable of working with minimal technical supervision.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed steel framing drawings and 3D models using Tekla Structures and, where required, Revit.
  • Interpret architectural and structural design information and develop practical, buildable steel framing solutions.
  • Generate accurate manufacturing information, including: Steel member sizes, Connection details Panel layouts, Assembly and installation sequences.
  • Coordinate with: Structural Engineers, Architects, Project Managers, Manufacturing and Site Teams.
  • Attend design and project coordination meetings.
  • Ensure all drawings and models comply with client specifications, relevant building regulations, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Process and issue material orders in accordance with project requirements.
  • Support the procurement team in sourcing new products and suppliers, while maintaining accurate supplier records.
  • Provide assistance across the purchasing and material control function as required.
  • Identify and resolve detailing and design coordination issues to support efficient project delivery.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of Light Gauge Steel (LGS) framing systems, including both infill and load-bearing applications.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience detailing Light Gauge Steel structures using Tekla Structures, Revit, or similar software.
  • Experience with Howick framing systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings accurately.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a design team.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working within a structural steel fabrication or offsite manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of BIM coordination processes.
  • Understanding of UK building regulations and construction standards relating to steel framing systems.

This is a full-time, office-based role at our offices in Carnwath, South Lanarkshire. However, hybrid or remote working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
