Our Head of Technical, Stephen was recently invited to the The Institution of Structural Engineers CPD event at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where he shared key lessons learned around efficient steel design and construction- highlighting the importance of early involvement, fabrication-led thinking, delivery focused design and a strong emphasis on carbon reduction can make a real difference on projects.
Stephen also spoke about how our sustainable practices, including our procurement strategy and onsite renewables such as our wind turbine and biomass units are helping to drive lower-carbon outcomes across our operations.
Stephen was joined by William Crowe and Graham Couchman (CEO of Steel Construction Institute), sparking great discussion and valuable insights into challenges and how collaborative thinking and value engineered solutions are shaping the future of steel construction and thanks go to Richard Campbell and the The Institution of Structural Engineers for extending the invitation to BHC.

Our teams within our workshop have been busy over the last week bringing this truss to life- before it heads off to one of our sites in Scotland, forming part of the (SEIUK) cable making factory at the port of Nigg, Inverness.
This truss is one of four and each one weighs a total of 65 tonnes, coming in at 3.4m high and 31m long.
