BHC fabricated and erected 1,866 tonnes of structural steelwork for an energy-from-waste unit located in Allerton, North Yorkshire as part of a multi-process waste centre servicing North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council. Construction of the Allerton Waste Recovery Park commenced in February 2015 and is on track to be fully operational by 2018.
The structure of the MT building comprises of a single storey, multi-curved steel roof supported on steel columns on a typical 11.4m x 25.1m grid. The stability of the building is provided by horizontal steel bracing at roof level which transfers loads to vertical steel bracing positioned along elevations.
