Distillation Begins at the New Isle of Arran Distillery and Visitor Centre
BHC are now entering the final stages of construction at the new Isle of Arran Distillery and Visitor Centre, Lagg. The intricate geometric design of the two-storey building takes inspiration from Goatfell and the surrounding topography of the Isle of Arran.
The Distillery and Visitor centre is clad in Scottish Larch, natural stone cavity walling and textured precast concrete panels. Each element has a different support requirement due to their size, the exposed nature of the building and the coastal hillside location. The roof features a Bauder Sedum Blanker Green roof – commencing from ground level and rising to its undulating profile.
Production within the distillery has already commenced with the first cask being filled earlier this month. The Distillery and Visitor Centre is set to open its doors to the public later this year.
