Client: South Tyne and Wear Council
SITA UK developed a new waste transfer station on the industrial land at Sunderland City Council’s Jack Crawford House site on Commercial Road in Hendon.
SITA UK required a facility that is large enough to handle around 2,000 tonnes of recyclable materials including: wood, plastic, metals, waste electrical products, tyres and glass. The Waste Transfer station was designed to be fully enclosed to ensure that lorries can transfer waste indoors in a controlled environment to reduce the likelihood of potential noise and odours.
Over a 3-and-a-half week period, BHC Ltd. supplied and erected 146 tonnes of hot rolled steelwork and 20 tonnes of cold formed purlins for this project.
The Waster Transfer Station was erected utilising our own in house steel erection squads, mobile cranes and mobile elevated working platforms.
