BHC were successfully appointed by main contractor McLaughlin & Harvey for the construction of a new, 600 space Multi-Storey Car Park with an additional 3,300 m2 of retail and leisure space. The building is naturally ventilated with a sustainable wooden slatted rear façade with the front façade being covered by corton steel with a punctured tree design.
BHC were responsible for fabricating and erecting 1.602 of hot rolled steelwork and cold rolled purlins. All steelwork was shot blasted to remove mill scale and rust to BS 7079 prior to painting, followed by a coat of High Build Zinc Phosphate Primer to a Dry Film Thickness of 75 microns. The structures Primary Structural Steelwork is fire protected to a minimum of 60 minutes. All primers and paintwork were applied within BHC’s own paintshop facility.
All steelwork was erected and handed over within a 15 week time frame. BHC utilised their own in-house steel erecting and metal decking squads. Whilst on site BHC used their own 50 tonnes mobile crane and 85ft Access Platform.
