Paint Shop Foreman

Due to continuous expansion we are seeking a Foreman to work within our Paint Shop.

Main Responsibilities

  • To liaise daily with management on workload and targets.
  • To ensure regular maintenance is always carried out on all equipment.
  • To allocate coatings jobs to their team.
  • To ensure that all Coatings Operatives apply materials in accordance with the standard methods / procedures.
  • To maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness / housekeeping.
  • To communicate effectively with and maintain working relationships.
  • Ensure scanning of work is carried out correctly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and implement correct usage of PPE.
  • Set up work schedule in advance of teams daily start time.
  • Mentoring of trainees and apprentices to suit company methods.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Supervising and mentoring skills are required.
  • Must be able to effectively plan the workload of the team on both day shift and night shift and liaise effectively with other departments in order to achieve customer delivery requirements.
  • The job requires an individual who can cascade information effectively to their team and meet targets and deadlines set.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Protective Coatings.

Mechanic/ Fitter

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced mechanic/fitter to join our team at Carnwath to help maintain an expanding fleet of construction machinery for use throughout the UK. The successful candidate will mainly be based at Carnwath, although they will be required to carry out work on site from time to time.

Job Description

Working within a team to ensure all vehicles and plant are maintained and serviced in accordance with the manufacturers requirements. To carry out servicing and repairs to all of our company plant, which would entail working on the following types of machines, telehandlers, MEWPS, mobile cranes, trombone, standard lorry trailers and all other types of construction based plant.

Responsibilities include:

  • Servicing, repairs and inspections to vehicles and plant.

Attributes:

  • Experience with plant and construction equipment, ability to work on their own initiative.
  • The ability to fault find within the electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems will be an advantage.
  • Job commitment.
  • Punctuality.
  • Clear communication skills, and the ability to use their own initiative to order parts etc.
  • Level 3 and time served in heavy plant.

Paint Shop Manager

Main Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the daily management of all labour resources within the paint shop and loading area.
  • To ensure all scheduled maintenance is carried out on all paint plant.

Industrial Paint Sprayer

Due to continuous expansion we are looking for a skilled and experienced Industrial Paint Sprayer to prepare and coat structural steel components.

Duties will include:

  • Paint spraying using two pack and/or Intumescent application on heavy industrial steel components.
  • Spraying using airless pressure king pumps and hand application to a high quality standard.

Requirement of the role:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Industrial Paint Spraying.
  • Candidates should have experience in quality checks such as DFT/WFT and surface preparation.
  • A working experience of spray and hand application of primer / Intumescent coatings processes and operations for structural steel would be an advantage for this role.
  • Must have a good work ethic, be reliable and flexible.
  • Can work independently or in a team.

Tekla Structural Detailer – Enniskillen

We currently have an opening for Tekla Detailers to join our busy structural steel detailing and design office.

The ideal candidate will have Tekla modelling experience and will be fluent in MS Office packages. They should be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic design principals in structural steel.

The role will involve detailing of various steel structures and the preparation of general arrangement and fabrication drawings with guidance from a technical manager.

The ability to work on your own or part of team on larger multi-user models is essential.

Quantity Surveyor – Enniskillen

BHC are currently looking to expand our Enniskillen office with the addition of a Quantity Surveyor to work within our Surveying Department.

BHC require an experienced Excavator Driver to assist with our Main Contract, Industrial and Agricultural projects.

CPCS Card is essential.

As an experienced Machine/Digger Driver who has previously worked on Construction sites, you ideally will have:

Residential Site Manager

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager with a Residential background to build housing projects in the local area.

The Site Manager must have experience delivering residential developments of a similar scale, with a strong background in the housing sector.

Your key activities will include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the project meets build programs and schedules with any problems being dealt with quickly and effectively.
  • Managing directly employed labour whilst onsite to ensure they have a full understanding of the programme dates.
  • Effectively monitoring and controlling work flows, staff resources, plant, material & call off schedules.
  • Timely production of accurate reports on progress for circulation to clients and internal teams as and when required
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of quality control documents and material delivery.
  • Effectively liaising with project manager, architects, engineers and other service providers.
  • Ensuring that subcontract works are carried out in accordance with quotations and or specifications.
  • Monitor Health and Safety and amend/compile all necessary documentation

Maintenance Engineer

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join the company to assist with the efficient and effective management for the day to day running of the Manufacturing Facility.

You will be responsible for:-

  • Ensuring that the facilities , layout and machinery used to produce new and existing materials and goods run to their maximum efficiency and output.
  • Total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment (including software programming).
  • People management and budgetary/cost reporting.

You will report to the Production & Works Manager.

Site Engineer

The Site Engineer is responsible for ensuring the successful handover of structural steelwork. This includes ensuring the plumb, line and level of the steelwork complies with the contracted tolerance and issuing of the handover certificate. The Site Engineer will also be involved with some of the turn key projects which BHC undertake, this will include the engineer starting with a gen field site and working with all trades on site to the stage of handover to the client. The Site Engineer will be responsible for all works during this time, delivering as build drawings for all their setting out during this time.

As part of the role the Site Engineer is expected to carry out the following:

  • As built Bolt Surveys
  • Cast in Plate Surveys
  • As built Steel Surveys
  • Plumb and Lining of steel
  • Casting of bolts “Dead” (no cones)
  • Setting Out
  • TOPO Surveys
  • Work on their own and through their own work load.

The Engineer must be competent in the use of Total Stations for both surveying and setting out. In particular, experience with Leica robotic total station is advantageous.

The successful candidate will be able to take survey data and complete as built surveys using CAD.

An element of manual work such as below is expected:

  • Plumbing of steel by tightening bolts.
  • Moving steel into position using heavy hammer and wedges.
  • Setting of Bolts.

The Engineer must be conscientious, hard working and driven.

Site Engineers at BHC are responsible for several jobs at any given time and are expected to be able to travel between them, therefore a driving licence is essential. In addition to this you will also need require a current CSCS card. Please note that depending on the locations of Projects working away from home may be required.

Experience in the use of total stations for setting out and surveying is essential although not necessarily with a Leica Robotic Instrument. An Engineer with a sound fundamental understanding of setting out and surveying will quickly be able to adapt to using any instrument. A basic knowledge of CAD will also be useful.

Construction Programmer/ Planner

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Construction Programmer/Planner to centralise all of the company’s project & labour plans.

Duties of the Programmer include:

  • Develop Construction/Tender Programs.
  • Conduct site visits and look through the works and drawings when required.
  • Review contractor schedules and schedule risk analysis.
  • Produce progress/program reports in conjunction with Project & Construction Managers.

Requirements of the role:

  • Operational experience together with previous significant experience of planning within the construction and steel industry.
  • Master programming – design, procurement, pre-commencement, construction, commissioning and production of design schedules.
  • Knowledge of project planning processes and the project life-cycle.
  • Knowledge of the procurement processes necessary for designing and building commercial projects.
